We kicked off November the only way you can in South Texas... Wurstfest. A giant German festival about an hour away from our house in New Braunfels. I don't know quite how to describe Wurstfest to someone, it's just something you have to experience. The official slogan of Wurstfest is "A 10 day salute to sausage", and I think we celebrated appropriately with our 5 sausages on a stick. Not five sticks of sausage... oh no, five sausages on ONE stick. Of course, if you like to drink beer, there is PLENTY of that as well. That's how they do it at Wurstfest. After you've stuffed yourself with sausage and beer you move on to a giant dance floor with a live Polka band and dance off the calories.
Madelyn is showing those 5 sausages, 1 roll, and enormous turkey leg who's boss!

Jessica eating a Turkey leg that is literally the size of her head.

Madelyn and new friend Kelly getting some air after some polka dancing and stuffing themselves on sausage.

Have you ever done the chicken dance with 1,000 people? It is quite the experience. Get ready to lock arms with complete strangers!

Lorena will not be defeated by those 5 sausages!

This is what I would describe has Madelyn's "game face".

My birthday was in November (in case you've missed the birthday blog that's been up for almost a month) which was a lot of fun. My dad came into town for the day and we went golfing and to a nice birthday dinner. I only managed to take one picture of my birthday while golfing with my dad.... check out those crazy shorts!

We went up to Dallas for the weekend for the Utah/TCU game. The game could have had a better ending, but it was still fun to see Utah play football in person. Before the game we went to the new Dallas Cowboys stadium tour. Which, of course, was bigger than anything I had ever seen.
The first night we got in we had dinner at my aunts house and Madelyn got some instruction on swinging a golf club from my Grandpa. She was lucky to have such a great instructor for her first swing of a club... after a few tips she was hitting it really well.
The new Dallas Cowboys stadium is insane! Even Madelyn who doesn't really care all that much about the NFL was in shock from the hugeness of the thing. It was jaw dropping.
The first stop on the tour is one of the suites, and seeing the big screen for the first time leaves you in complete shock. The pictures don't do it justice!

The screen goes from the 20 yard line to the other 20 yard line. They were having highschool playoffs the day we were there so we got to see it in action, and it made me wish I had played highschool football... in Texas... in the year 2009...and be on a team good enough to go to the playoffs... It's a ridiculous dream, I know.

Here's a picture from the suite... I was all ready for the Utah game, Madelyn calls this my "costume"

The stadium filled all the halls with huge pieces of art.. because if there is one thing the average NFL crazy football fan admires... it's art. Even the elevators had imported floors that had a special blue glow!

My dad was also ready for the Utah game.... he wasn't wearing a "costume" but he was all decked out.

Could you imagine what this place is like on game day? With 100,000 screaming fans? Could you imagine the lines?!

Even my grandpa was all dressed up for the Utah game!

Me and my dad in front of Tony Romo and Jason Witten's locker. We're kind of nuts.

The stadium tour was amazing, but the real reason we went up to Dallas was for the big TCU game. We were much happier in these pictures than when walking back to the car after a 25+ point loss and getting some mild heckeling.
Here we are leaving the house to go to the game... big smiles... hopeful. The TCU campus was crazy...all the fans are pumped up to be doing so well. It reminded me of the BCS busting year Utah had when I was still a student when we won the Fiesta Bowl.... oh, and the year we won the Sugar Bowl. Two BCS bowls. How many has TCU won? None? Yeah, that's what I thought! Wait... I mean... good for them! (directed at the heckler at the TCU game)

The TCU stadium is old and the first few rows have no seats which let's you get right near the field.

That's us with the student section behind us... a sea of purple.

We sat right in the middle of the big Utah section... this is my favorite picture because somewhere in all that red Madelyn is looking at the camera and smiling. I'll call this, "Where's Madelyn?" If we were rich we'd give away a prize... but we're not, so, just find her because it's fun.

It's too bad Utah lost, but I truthfully have no bad feelings toward TCU and hope they do well... Mountain West conference represent!
