Halloween Weekend

This Halloween Madelyn and I finally got the chance to dress up! It's been a while since we've been invited to a big Halloween party where everyone was dressed up, so we thought long and hard about how we could create costumes from stuff we already had.... luckily we are in the middle on watching Mad Men so we were inspired to dress as if we were in the show.

We dug deep in the closets (and the neighbors closet), we put enough hairspray and gel in our hair where we made sure not to go near an open flame, we bought some fake cigarettes, and we tried our hardest to looks sleek and sophisticated. I thought we did a good job, but we were validated when strangers on the street were asking us for our pictures! We were a hit!

Madelyn looked amazing!

Before we went out dressed as Mad Men we handed out candy to the kids... but our favorite visitor was baby Charlotte from next door dressed as a Monkey. She looked adorable.

Austin is known for it's greenbelts, parks, biking trails, and hikes... but up until a couple months ago we never really took advantage of them. I think in our minds we thought "Who could have prettier hiking than Salt Lake?" Well, we started checking them out a couple months ago and were really amazed at just how beautiful they were...now we're making it a weekend tradition! It might not have the spectacular views, but the hiking trails around Austin are great (and a lot of them are off leash!).

After our hike we found a cafe right on the shore of Lake Austin that also allows dogs. Eating dinner on the lake at sunset... you can't beat that.

Today is also Rocky's 2nd birthday... he didn't like the hat.
